I’m Sabrina, founder (and incognito voice) of Like A Friend Said. You might’ve already scrolled past my voice somewhere on your feed. Chances are, I’ve already convinced you to try at least one new place in LA.
Like A Friend Said is a platform for Los Angeles locals, recommending places to go and things to do while supporting local businesses and fighting the city’s loneliness epidemic with weekly plans. The best recommendations always come from a Friend, so we decided to be that Friend for everyone.
And even though LA recs are our thing, we get a lot of product questions. I’m one of those people with a never-ending wishlist. So when ROW DTLA asked me to share 10 of my holiday favorites, it barely felt like work. Are we ever too old for a Christmas wishlist? I spent the weekend doing what I do best, shopping, and put together my list that I’d recommend to a Friend.

Byredo from Scent Bar : I’ve been loving Bal D’Afrique recently; my only winter rotation besides Baccarat Rouge
Sugahara Mini Vases from ARJ Los Angeles : mix a few colors and shapes for the prettiest centerpiece
Kaneko Kohyo Floral Plates from ARJ Los Angeles : delicate and perfect for hosting
Richard Ginori Tableware from ARJ Los Angeles : if you own these, I’m jealous. The pink plates haunt me
Artwork from The Friday Gallery : I was always taught that one of the best investments for your home is artwork. This piece by Caroline Moonet was created using an indigenous Australian bark-fiber technique, where the artist softens tree bark by chewing it
Striped Sweaters from Things Between : ideal for Christmas morning baking holiday cookies and rewatching The Holiday (the pink + red stripes are my fav)
Burnt Orange Glassware from Kinto : color just screams taste and makes any table look expensive
Nixta Corn Liqueur from Flask & Field : I tried it for the first time at MXO (RIP) and wouldn’t get over how unique the corn finish was. It’s a unique, niche gift for the Friend that hosts
Galantino Peperoncino Olive Oil from Flask & Field : who doesn’t want a beautifully-packaged olive oil on their kitchen counter?
Vintage Crewnecks from The Harvester : cozy, perfectly worn-in, and almost better than stealing your ex’s. I’m eyeing the yellow wrestling team crewneck
